Clinton brought the energy and momentum they had from Tuesday night into Thursday game vs Madison in what turned out to be enthralling game.  Bucking the trend of a lethargic first quarter, Clinton came out the gate hot with Cruz leading the way with 9pts of his team high 14 in the first quarter.  Clinton's defense forced turnovers that allowed them to get out in transition and score. Madison came back the second quarter with a trapping defense that helped them to battle back into the game, taking a 3 pt lead going into halftime.  Clinton made adjustments coming out of halftime and it was a back and forth game late into the 4th. Campbell came up with 3 big plays in the final minutes of the 4th quarter to help out match Madison. Clinton was down 2pts when Campbell drove the ball and scored over two defenders to tie the game 43-43. Campbell then clamps down defensively and steals the ball on Madison very next possession and took the ball full court to score on a contested fast break layup, putting Clinton up by 2. Madison fouled Campbell putting him at the line.  Missing on a 1 and 1 Campbell nabbed his own rebound giving Clinton an extra possession. Those proved to be pivotal plays and Clinton furthered the lead scoring at the line to ice the game 46-43. Senior, Fortney, narrowly missed a double-double adding 9pts and 11 rebounds. Burt scored in double figures contributing 11 pts and grabbing 5 rebounds, Shaffner scored 5pts including a game tying 3 in a tightly contested third quarter. With back to back wins Clinton looks to build on their intensity and team play to keep the win streak alive when they play at Morenci January 7th @7pm.
