The Clinton Boys JV basketball team was able to escape Thursday's LCAA matchup against Dundee with their first victory of the young season by a score of 57-43 to improve to 1-1 overall and in the league.  The game was a battle much of the game despite the final margin of victory.

The first half wasn't the prettiest basketball to watch.  Both teams struggled to find their rhythm as Clinton took a 9-7 lead.  Much of the second quarter was stagnant until Dundee put a run together to build a seven point lead with one minute remaining in the half and looked as if the momentum was on their side.  That was until Landon Busz knocked two three's in the final minute, including a 25 footer from the right wing that drew the applause from the crowd and shifted the momentum back to the home team.  However, Dundee still had a 20-19 advantage.  

Neither team was able to gain control during the third quarter, but the shooting started to pick up as both teams each knocked down a pair of three's and entered the final quarter tied at 33 apiece.  The depth of the Clinton team paid dividends and eventually wore down the visiting team.  Clinton would score 24 fourth quarter points to Dundee's 10 to earn the victory.

Landon Busz led the way with 12 points in two quarters of action. Lucas Richie reached double figures for the second consecutive game by adding 10 points. Sam Brown chipped in with 8 points and 5 rebounds. Kyle Wenk scored all of his 7 points in the fourth quarter to go along with his team high 6 rebounds. Zach Kovach finished with 7 points as well. Ethan Herington also added 6 points and 5 rebounds, while Jacob Gilson and Spencer Stephens scored 3 points and Teddy Pizio 1 point to round out the Clinton scoring.

The JV game with Morenci that was scheduled for Saturday, February 13th, has been canceled, but the varsity game will still be played.  The varsity start time is set for 12:30PM in Morenci. 

That means the next JV boys basketball game will be Tuesday, February 16th, when the team will travel to Columbia Central for a 5:30 PM start.
