SAND CREEK HIGH SCHOOL: 47
The Clinton Redskin JV boys basketball team started off the 2019 portion of their schedule on a positive note holding off a feisty Sand Creek team to earn a 58-47 home victory on Tuesday night.
Clinton built a ten point halftime lead thanks in large part to hot shooting of Eric Briggs. Briggs scored 12 of the first 14 points in the first quarter for the Redskins garnering himself a lot of attention from the Aggies. This was able to open up opportunities for his teammates who capitalized in the second quarter.
The Redskins came out of halftime unable to find their rhythm which led to a furious comeback by the Aggies who found themselves down only three entering the fourth. A couple quick buckets gave Sand Creek a one point lead early in the 4th quarter. However, the Redskins kept their composure and quickly made a run of their own to seize control and hold on for the win which improves their record to 4-3 overall and 4-1 in the TCC.
Eric Briggs led the team with 16 points. Jacob Huddleston continued where he left off before going on winter break by adding 12 points. Davey Campbell had another solid all-around performance finishing with 11 points, 5 assists, and 3 rebounds. Tommy Burt pulled down a team high 10 rebounds.
Clinton will begin a tough stretch of games that includes six of the next eight games on the road, starting with a road TCC contest this Friday at Madison. The JV game will begin at 5:30 PM with the varsity game following at 7:00 PM.
