Girls Varsity Volleyball vs. Whitmore Lake HS School

Clinton Varsity girls played their last home game of the season tonight against Whitmore Lake.  Clinton won the first game easily 9-25 but came in the second game played a little more slow losing the game 16-25. In the third they came back strong again winning 25-16. The fourth game was 17-25. Clinton was able to play tough in the fifth game 15-10.

Clinton Varsity was able to finish Whitmore Lake in 5 games with a strong team performance on our side of the court.  Coach Loftis said, that they needed to hit the ball in (no matter what) and communicate and the game was ours!  Leading the team with digs was Payton Blaze with 19 digs, 11 points, and 18 good serve receive passes. Rilee Szczesniak had 15 digs, 6 serving points, and 17 good serve receive passes while Breece Phillips had 7 digs and 9 good serve receive passes. Brianna Burton led the team with 17 kills and 4 digs while Megyn Artnz had 11 kills and 3 blocks also with 9 good serve receive passes.  Lindsey Burton and Sam Renaldi had key plays through the game.  Sam with 4 kills and Lindsey with strong work at the net with 5 kills and 2 blocks.  Saydie Starnes had a strong game at the net serving with 13 points and 5 aces, 5 kills, 14 digs, and 6 good serve receive passes while Tess Woerner worked hard in keeping the ball in play was key in many rallies.  Tess had 4 kills, 8 points, and 3 good serve receive passes. Ali Elwart had 27 assists, 13 points, 10 digs and worked to move the ball around to all hitters.  Karlee Szczesniak worked to get to the ball and set up her hitters as well.  Karlee had 17 assists, 11 digs, and 6 points. 

Senior Night was emotional and HUGE with six of our team being celebrated tonight.  Ali Elwart played 4 years as a varsity player, Brianna and Lindsey Burton, Breece Phillips, Saydie Starnes, and Rilee Szczesniak all played two years on varsity.  Everyone played an important role on the team and will greatly be missed! These girls have had a big impact on our program setting the tone for how the program needs to look as a team and leaders. Coach Loftis said, "It was an honor to coach this team and group of senior who are leaders in and out of the classroom.  Anything and everything they were asked to do, they did with a smile and hard work!"  From up north to Madison and everything in-between we worked hard!   #doyourjob

Please come cheer the ladies on Monday, October 29th in Summerfield at 5 pm for their first district game.  We are making it a black out!  Wear black and come ready to cheer!
