BRITTON DEERFIELD SCHOOLS: 44
Clinton traveled to Britton-Deerfield on Tuesday night for a TCC match-up. The Redskins came away with an exciting win, 46-44, on a buzzer-beating shot by senior Robbie Campbell.
"What an exciting win! We overcame a tough charge call with 5 seconds left, got the ball back, and Robbie made a great play to drive and score it at the buzzer," Coach Jordan Kelly said.
Clinton was very disciplined as they worked the last minute off the clock to hold for what they thought would be the final shot. Steven Fortney drove to the basket, scored, but was called for a charge call with 5 seconds left. On the ensuing possession, the Patriots were called for a traveling violation. The Redskins got the ball back under their own basket with 3.7 seconds left. Campbell took the pass, drove middle, and shot a runner that went all the way around the rim before finally falling in after the horn had sounded. A Redskin dog-pile was ensued.
Clinton was led by Justin Felts and Steven Fortney with 11 points each, Robbie Campbell had 10, and Clark Nelson with 8.
A great defensive effort goes to the entire team, including Nelson, Felts, and Austin Fauser for holding BD's leading scorer in check the whole night.
Clinton will be back in action on Friday, as it travels to Little Caesar's Arena in Detroit, to take on Whitmore Lake.
Overall record: 8-10 (TCC 6-7)
