CoEd Varsity Track
The Clinton men and women officially entered the postseason as they competed at Hillsdale High School for the Regional Championship meet. The Clinton men qualified one athlete, Gabe Nelson (3200m run) but did manage to medal in several events such as Zak Shadley in long jump, Trevor Lakatos in discus, Grant Stockford in high jump and the 200m, the men’s 4x800 relay team, and Ryan Doty and Max Hampel in the 800m run.
The Clinton women managed to qualify three athletes to the Division 3 State Meet on June 5th, claiming two individual region titles in the process. Lena Korte continued her storybook senior season by setting a new PR with a throw of 38-6 in the shot put to win the event and get Clinton on the scoreboard early in the meet. Cassie McNatt won an individual title on the track by running a personal best time of 50.25 in the 300 hurdles. Bri Underwood launched her way to the state meet with a third place finish in the long jump.
The 4x100 relay team (Griffin Faulkner, Bri Underwood, Brynn Frederick, Mia Struck) and 4x200 relay team (Faulkner, Frederick, Underwood, McNatt) both ran season best times but finished in third place, one spot out of state qualifying position. With six of the eight legs in the sprint relays returning for next season, the future looks bright for the Clinton relay crew.
