GAME SUMMARYThe Clinton JV boys basketball team came out red hot on Friday night in their home contest against the Aggies of Sand Creek. Despite any changes that the Aggies tried to make, the Redskins stayed hot throughout the entire game and ran away with a 70-32 TCC league win. The win improves the Redskins to 6-8 overall and 4-5 in the TCC. The Redskins surged out in front early with a 20-4 scoring advantage in the 1st quarter thanks in large part to the outside shooting display that team put on. The Redskins continued to roll during the 2nd quarter and went into halftime up 33-12. Clinton then outscored the Aggies in the second half 37-20 to win by the final margin. As a team, the Redskins shot 42% from beyond the arc, making 8 of their 19 attempts, while shooting 54% from the field overall. Landon Busz made half of those three point field goals and finished with 22 points including an impressive 57% (4 for 7) from three while also adding 3 steals. Derek Tomalak, returning after missing the last game to sickness, also reached double figures to finish with 11 points. Freddie Wade and Bryson VanSickle each gave the Redskins a nice lift off the bench each scoring 8 points while Wade added 6 rebounds and VanSickle 5. Keegan Huston, Lucas Richie, and Kyle Wenk also all contributed 4 points with Wenk also grabbing 6 rebounds. One other note from tonight was that this was the return game of Matt Johnson. Matt, who broke his ankle in week 1 of the football season back in late August, has had a long road to recovery. He was able to make it in the scoring column by finishing 2 for 4 from the free throw line to finish with 2 points. The Redskins will now travel to face Ann Arbor Central Academy next Tuesday for a non-league matchup. JV tip is set for 5:30 with the varsity to follow at 7:00PM.
