GAME SUMMARYThe Clinton boys JV basketball team took the long trek down US 12 to face the Quincy Orioles in a non-league contest Wednesday evening and came away with a 45-41 victory. The win pushes the JV record to 5-8 overall and 3-5 in the TCC. Despite the travel, the Redskins came off of the bus hot to open an early lead. Quincy then responded with a run of their own to head into halftime up 1 by a score of 21-20. Another scoring run for the Redskins in the 3rd quarter proved to be the difference in which it seemed like just about everyone was getting in the scoring column. Baskets by Keegan Huston, Lucas Richie, Bryson VanSickle, and Jacob Gilson all in the third quarter helped surge the Redskins to take a 35-29 lead heading to the 4th quarter. While in control for most of the quarter, things got close down the stretch thanks in part to some missed free throws by the Redskins. But, it was the Clinton defense that put the clamps down to help secure the win. Grant Stockford led the Redskins with 16 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 blocks. Landon Busz added 9 points. Keegan Huston, Bryson VanSickle, Freddie Wade, and Jacob Gilson all finished with 3 points, while Zach Kovach and Lucas Richie each added a basket a piece to finish with 2 points. The JV team will have a quick turnaround before their next contest this Friday against Sand Creek.
