Boys Junior Varsity Basketball
Tuesday 12/10/2019 @ 5:30 PM(A) vs Manchester High School
|Clinton High School||61|
|Manchester High School||27|
GAME SUMMARYA new look TJV boys basketball team opened the 2019/20 campaign in a big way by defeating their non league rival, Manchester, convincingly by a score of 61-27. With only three returning faces from the 2018/19 team that finished 14-6, there has been some uncertainty about how this team may fare over the course of the season. Tonight, the JV team was able to take the momentum early by building an 11-2 advantage after the first quarter of play. The lead would balloon to as many as 16 points in the first half, but not before two three point field goals by the Dutchmen cut the Redskin lead to 10 at halftime. The second half would start just like the first half ended, with another Manchester three point field goal that brought Manchester within seven points. However, Clinton would eventually find the rhythm that they had to start the game by closing out better on Manchester's three point attempts that would lead to easy baskets on the offensive end. The Redskins would go on to outscore Manchester 38-14 in the second half for the 34 point final margin of victory. Freshman, Landon Busz, came off the bench to lead the Redskins in scoring with 19 points. Freshman classmate, Grant Stockford, also reached double figures while recording his first double-double in his first JV action by adding 10 points to go with 11 rebounds. Sophomore, Derek Tomolak, chipped in 8 points. Fellow classmates, Zach Kovach, Ethan Herington, and Kyle Wenk all added 6 points apiece with Wenk grabbing 10 rebounds and Herington 9. The team will be back in action on Friday, December 13th for their home opener against Blissfield. The JV game will start at 5:30 with the varsity game to follow at 7:00PM.
