|Clinton High School||45|
|Blissfield High School||71|
GAME SUMMARYThe Junior Varsity Boys Basketball team dropped their first game of the 2019-20 season to fall to 1-1 on the year after a hotly contested battle with the Royals of Blissfield by a score of 71-45. The final margin was not indicative how how close the game actually was, but rather reflects the final four minutes when Blissfield went on a terror from behind the three point line and took advantage of some late miscues by the Redskins. For three and a half quarters, the game was a single digit margin. Clinton opened the game on a 6-0 run that was quickly halted as Blissfield took control 17-11 after the first quarter and would not give up the lead despite several pushes by the Redskins. With Blissfield leading by five, the Royals made a heavily contested three point attempt at the 2nd quarter buzzer to go into halftime leading by eight, and seemed to have the momentum. The Redksins would have a response, however, and brought the game to within four points midway through the third quarter. Despite battling all night long, four points would be as close as the margin would get. Grant Stockford and Zach Kovach paced the Redskins with 11 points apiece. Derek Tomolak added 9 points, while Landon Busz and Kyle Wenk chipped in with 6 points each. Freshman, Keegan Huston, added a late bucket to round out the scoring for the Redskins. Monroe Jefferson will be in town next Tuesday, December 17th, for a non league matchup. The JV game will begin at 5:30PM, with the varsity game set to tip at 7:00PM.
