The JV boys WON on Tuesday night. It was a much needed team win for the boys. The boys played good defense and made key free throws at the end of the game. Jack Voll and David Campbell led the team with 10 points each. Tommy Burt had 9 points for the team. The next game is Friday against Adrian Madison.

The JV boys lost to Sand Creek on Monday. The difference in the game was one bad quarter. Clinton led 23 to 20 at halftime. The JV team was out scored by 16 points in the 3rd quarter. “Sand Creek was able to create turnovers and rushed shots out of they’re press. We need to slow ourselves down and run an offense.” said Coach Chavez
Jack Voll had 10 points and 8 rebounds in the game.

The JV Boys Basketball team lost to Whiteford by a score of 31-47. The team is still struggling on the offensive end, but continues to play great defense. Eric Briggs led the team with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Tommy Burt added 5 points.

The JV Boys Basketball team travelled to Summerfield Tuesday night and came home with a 46-57 loss. The team shot the ball well, but ball control and inconsistent defense continue to cost points. Leading scorers were Tommy Burt with 14 and Davey Campbell with 12.

Win: 44 - 43
The JV Boys continue to learn lessons this season. It was an especially heart breaking lesson on Friday night. The team led most of the game, up 18 to 7 after the first quarter. The hot shooting didn’t continue so the lead was cut to 3 at halftime. The third quarter was back and forth with the teams trading baskets. Clinton had a 4 point lead with 1:30 left. Quick shots and poor free throws let Whitmore Lake hang around. With 30 seconds left Whitmore Lake made a 3 pointer to take the lead. With 9 seconds left Clinton called a time-out to draw up a last second shot. “ We got the shot we wanted at the end of the game. We just didn’t make it.”, said Coach Chavez. Tommy Burt had 9pts and 9 rebounds. Jack Voll had 8pts and 9 rebounds. The next game is Tuesday at Summerfield.
Boys Junior Varsity Basketball vs. Britton Deerfield Schools

Lose: 23 - 40
The Jv boys struggled making shots vs Britton/Deerfield on Tuesday night. They shot 14% on the night making only 7 baskets. “I thought we played good defense but then gave up offensive rebounds”. Coach Chavez. Those rebounds led to easy baskets for them. We need to keep playing good defense and keep getting good shots and the basketball will start to go in. Josh Schaffner had 6pts and Jack Voll and Eric Briggs had 5 each. The next game is Friday against Whitmore Lake.

The jv boys continue to improve but came up short in a loss to Adrian Madison. They played great defense but gave up to many offensive rebounds. Those rebounds led to easy baskets for Madison. “We are still working on our turnover issue but I like what I see”. Coach Chavez. Davey Campbell had 9 points and Josh Schaffner had 7 points. Our next game is Tuesday at home against B/D.

The Clinton JV Boys Basketball team traveled to East Jackson on Tuesday and ended up with a 38-28 win. The team did a great job being patient on offense and limited turnovers. A tough zone defense in the third quarter held East Jackson to 2 points. Leading scorers were Davey Campbell with 12 and Eric Briggs with 8. Jack Voll pulled in 11 rebounds on the night.

Lose: 37 - 43
The game was a tale of 2 halves. The first half we controlled the ball & limited our turnovers, and played good defense. The second half, Sand Creek came out into a full court press, which sped the game up for us, causing us to make ill-advised passes. The turnovers led Sand Creek to easy buckets, so they were able to get the lead and we were never able to recover. Davey Campbell led us in scoring with 13. Jack Voll had 11 points & 9 rebounds.

The JV Boys Basketball team’s record fell to 1-5 on Tuesday night, as they lost a game to Whiteford by a score of 36-46. Despite the record, the young team has made great improvements both offensively and defensively. As has consistently been the case, the Redskins struggled in the first half, but came back to outscore their opponent by 6 points in the second half, just not enough to put them on top. Leading scorers were Josh Schaffner and Tommy Burt with 8 each. Jack Voll contributed 12 rebounds for the night.

The JV Boys Basketball team returned from the holiday break and traveled to Adrian on 1/4. The Redskins hung tough, but ended with a loss that was much closer than the score would indicate. Turnovers continue to plague the team, but Coach Chavez is hopeful for improvement. Leading scorers were Tommy Burt with 9 points, Jack Voll with 6 and Jacob Huddleston with 4.

The JV Boys Basketball team traveled to Morenci on 12/19 and came home with a loss. A bad second quarter was the team’s downfall, with turnovers and cold shooting. Leading scorers were Jack Voll with 12 and Eric Briggs with 6. Jack Voll also pulled down 11 rebounds in the game.

The JV Boys basketball team faced the Summerfield Bulldogs on Thursday, 12/14 and came away with a 45-54 loss. A bad first half had the team in a 22-38 hole at halftime. The Redskins battled back and won the second half 23-16, but it wasn't enough to win the game. Leading scorers were Jack Voll with 14, Davey Campbell with 10, Tommy Burt with 8, and Josh Schaffner with 7.

The Clinton JV boys basketball team suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of the Blissfield Royals. The Royals were a much bigger, more experienced team, and the younger Redskins hung tough for the first quarter. Blissfield's press led to a number of Redskin turnovers, and made it difficult for a comeback. Leading scorers were Jack Voll with 11 and Davey Campbell with 7.

The Clinton JV Boys Basketball team opened the season with a 46-41 win over Manchester. The team came out and played well overall, holding onto the win despite a bad 3rd quarter. The defensive effort was a highlight for Coach Chavez. Leading scorers were Jack Voll with 12 and Tommy Burt with 11.
